If I close my eyes and think back to Rachel and Jules wedding, there’s two things that come to mind immediately – the sound of humming bumblebees in the lavender and the smell of seemingly a hundred different flowers. Rachel and Jules got married at South Farm in beautiful Cambridgeshire, a venue with the most amazing gardens in the middle of the countryside. I met these two a month earlier for a portrait shoot in Stratford Upon Avon and whilst I don’t want to talk about the weather all the time let’s just say that despite it being June we all preferred to keep our jackets on.
Fast forward to their wedding day and things could not have been more perfect. It was truly the height of summer with a bright warm sun and the sound of ice cubes clinking in glasses that were being sipped under shady trees. From a room decked out with more flowers and all kinds of fantastic paper decorations handmade by Rachel herself rose the sound of roaring laughter from everyone, especially as Jules’ brothers delivered an outstanding speech. In the midst of all this was Rachel in her most beautiful dress and of course little Sophie. It’s so great to see when a child gets to witness their parents getting married and to say that Sophie was excited would be understating it. As the sun set over acres of lush green fields and the bumblebees calmed down an incredible funk band started up and continued into the night, rocking the, well, barn. Happy days!
Big thanks to my wonderful friend Nicola Ferguson who helped me out. Shot on film and digital. All film Portra 400 and 800, scanned and developed by UK Film Lab.

Ann: this has brought tears (happy, happy ones!) to my eyes. Youre pictures were just beautiful and we loved having you as such an important part of our wedding. Thank you for creating such treasured, special memories for us. xxx
oh this looks like it was a fun day at work. Lovely lovely!!! :)
What I love about your work is that even though the weddings you shoot are beautiful and full of lovely details, that’s never the focus. It always highlights the people and the “atmosphere”. I love that.
So beautiful Ann!
