“We have a pretty decent view.” James said as I stood on the edge of their roof terrace. If pretty decent means a 360 degree view over Singapore spreading out underneath me in every direction then yes, it was pretty decent. If not mind blowingly amazing.
Rachel and James live in Singapore. They are from England and got married just last weekend. I was lucky enough to meet up with them in Singapore a few weeks ago to take some portraits of them beforehand. And even more lucky that they took me on this amazing little tour of what Singapore means to them. We started out in Tiong Bahru, their neighbourhood, full of beautiful Art Deco style flats and got a taste of the ‘real’ Singapore before heading over to Marina Bay Sands for some high-rise ogling, drinks and pointing at famous old hotels. Afterwards they showed me what was probably my favourite part of my Singapore trip – La Pau Sat on Raffles Quay (do yourself a favour and click on the street view). It’s an old market hall in the middle of the financial district that opens up an impromptu street sitting area in the evenings by blocking off a whole stretch of the road. Stall after stall of satay vendors compete for customers and you get to decide which one looks the best. Frankly, it was immense. We had a few bites of satay (maybe more than a few) and ice cold beer and it was the perfect end to a perfect day.
Thank you for showing me ‘your’ Singapore, Rachel and James, and congratulations on getting hitched! Do let me know if you need someone to house sit that amazing view of yours.

I love me some skyscrapers and a city/urban e-session! Beautiful photos. Also, it made me want to see Singapore ;-)

Love, love, LOVE these shots.
Gorgeous couple and Singapore looks Ah-mazing.
Fantastic portaits Ann, think I love ‘their Singapore’ too, those street market shots are awesome!
Thank you soooo much for the amazing photos Ann! We absolutely love them – the stunning light, the way you picked out some gorgeous locations in Tiong Bahru, the pics of our condo, night falling on the city and the fab satay stalls at Lau Pa Sat. It’s so cool to get ‘our Singapore’ on film, thank you a million! We also loved being able to show you around, even if we did coverage some mileage in 30 degree heat and 100% humidity! Thank you again, Rachel & James
