My phone beeps. I look down at the screen and read “We are thinking of wearing pajamas during our session tomorrow. Because pajamas are comfy as hell.” I blink. Look up. Look back down onto my phone. Nope. Still the same message. I have known Francisco for over a decade now and once I got to know Deanie I realised that these two are pretty perfect together. So reading this text on the day before we were meant to take their engagement portraits was… confusing. Yes. Very confusing. But surprising? Not at all. I guess it was my fault as I said: “Just make sure you’re comfortable with whatever you’re wearing!”
This is how we ended up prancing around all of San Francisco with two of us wearing pyjamas. (That’s how I spell it. It just looks better.) But this wasn’t some relaxed affair. The pyjamas were brand new, purchased on a special trip to the mall the day before. We spent about 4 hours on google maps and youtube location scouting, trying and finally succeeding in finding that one street from the Sony advert. You know the one. With the bouncy balls. Again, I wasn’t surprised at all that we managed to find it, considering the professional approach Francisco has to everything visual, especially if it involves him wearing pyjamas all day.
Deanie and Francisco, I think it’s safe to say that I had more fun that day than anyone should have with their clothes on. Thank you for the free tour of San Francisco’s steepest streets, the moonshine gin at T and A’s house and the gratuitous “sightings” on Baker Beach, even if only in hindsight. I can’t wait for July.
